Special Issue No. 22 of the European Superconductivity News Forum (ESNF) is devoted to papers presented at the Applied Superconductivity Conference (ASC) 2012 held in Portland OR, from October 7 to 12, 2012.

All the plenary slide presentations are now accessible at the ASC 2012 website through a link from the issue’s “Contents” page. ESNF hopes to assure continuing access to these presentations after ASC 2014 takes over the website. Two plenary presentations, one by Don McDonald and another by John Rowell, opened the Special Session “Josephson 50th Anniversary.” The following four talks of this session were invited, but not plenary. All six were video recorded and are currently in editing. The release of these recordings will be announced separately, once available.

Of the 66 invited ASC presentations, only 24 manuscripts have been submitted for possible publication in IEEE Trans. Appl. Supercond. vol. 23 (2013). Of these, 10 are pre-published. Three invited slide presentations, of which one is annotated, are also available. Additional presentations may appear in the January 2013 issue of ESNF.

Of the 48 manuscripts submitted to the contest for best ASC contributed papers, those rated by ESNF reviewers “excellent” or “very good” (18 altogether) are included in this issue. Those rated “good” may appear in the January 2013 issue.

A highlight on ASC 2012 by the Chair of the Conference is also provided.
