In an email to its members, the Compressed Gas Association announced the formation of a new Process Safety Committee to address process safety concerns and gaps that affect the industrial gas industry.
Included was a list of proposed work items and publication topics that the new committee will consider, including audit protocols for a compressed gas system; Industry Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP), a focus on retail exemption changes; and process safety for acquisition of existing plants.
The committee will also review and propose changes for three CGA guidelines, CGA P-29, application of OSHA PSM and EPA RMP to the compressed gas industry; CGA P-28, OSHA process safety management and EPA risk management plan guidance document for bulk liquid hydrogen systems, and CGA P-64, guideline for the location of occupied buildings in industrial gas plants.
All CGA member companies are invited to participate, according to the email, and can request to serve by contacting Jill Thompson by October 27. The first committee meeting, a web conference, is scheduled for December 13.
