Contribute Your Answer to a Very ‘Cool’ Question on Physics Forum, Stack Exchange

An interesting cryogenics question was posted in the physics section of the popular forum, Stack Exchange. Now, cryogenics enthusiasts around the world are offering up their explanations. We welcome the CSA community to voice their reasoning on the forum and promote cryogenics around the world.

Posted by user “Mark Morales,” the question is: “What would happen if a 10-kg cube of iron, at a temperature close to 0 kelvin, suddenly appeared in your living room? What would be the effect of placing an object that cold in an environment that warm? Would the room just get a little colder? Would it kill everyone in the room like some kind of cold bomb? What would happen? Don’t think about how the cube got there, or the air which it would displace.”

While not giving exact values for all variables, we encourage you to share your thoughts. You can submit your answer and reasoning here.
